There are 18 teams in the AFL and 22 captains. Of these 22 captains Jack Trengrove, of the Melbourne Demons, is the youngest at 21 years of age. 10 years his senior, Matthew Pavlich, Darren Glass and Jonathon Brown are the oldest captains (31). 17 captains are over the age of 25. These statistics show that the vast majority of clubs favor experience over youthful thinking and ideas when selecting their respective captains. Implying that society, or at least the sporting society, deem experience to be one of the most important traits in a leader. Which trait do you think is more important for a leader to possess.
