Wherever we go these days it is not uncommon to see groups of friends out together but rather than conversing with one another each is engaged with their phones.

An Australian school principal, Meg Melville wants to find ways of facilitating the direct conversations she feels are so vital for young people's social development.

While some think mobile devices can play an important role in schools as a valuable learning tool and a safety measure, others consider that such devices can be isolating and detrimental to essential socialisation skills.
Meg Melville is proposing mobile devices are banned in school playgrounds so that students can actually communicate with those around them.
