POLL of the DAY (52): GYM CLASS HEROES?

'An investigation is under way at one of New Zealand's largest gyms after an instructor continued with a group fitness class after a man collapsed and lost consciousness.

The incident, involving a 28-year-old man, happened during a BodyPump class at the Les Mills Victoria St West gym in Auckland on Wednesday morning.

The female instructor stopped the class and three other gym staff members came over to help, said a witness. Another member of the class rang for an ambulance, while one of the staff members stayed with the man. In the meantime, the instructor resumed the class.

Should a gym stop an exercise class if someone collapses? http://www.nzherald.co.nz/health/news/article.cfm?c_id=204&objectid=11405108

Given that the man had been assessed, an ambulance called and had someone with him was it ok for the class to resume? After all, all the other class members had paid to attend the class and the instructor was not needing to attend to the man as other colleagues were present?

Or should the whole class have been stopped to show respect for the collapsed man and so if further assessment was required it would not be hampered by loud music and a lack of privacy?

What do you think?

It is proposed that provided that suitable care is being provided it should be ok for a gym class to resume after a member has collapsed
