The Crimea War in Eastern Europe over the territory of Crimea has been going for several months with neither Russia or Ukraine looking closer to victory than the start. But an event has been arranged where we may see an end to this gruesome war. Ukrainian President, Petro Poroshenko and Russian President, Vladmir Putin will both be at Sunday's World Cup final between Argentina and Germany. Though no meeting was known to have been arranged between the Russian and Ukrainian leaders, German chancellor, Angela Merkel persuaded Poroshenko to attend. Merkel, Poroshenko, Putin, Rousseff (Brazilian President) and other Brazilian heads of state are to be in the same VIP area during the match.
But is the world cup Grand Final the right place to have a political reunion? And would it distress the fans in the stadium to see the two presidents that have been at war with each other in the same VIP area? Yet isn't it already time that the Eastern European leaders came to a truce on this bloody war?
