Every day in the news and television we here about issues that affect our world. However, stories that are centred close to our own homes often are rated as more important that issues from abroad. Is this a problem? Should rising house prices be taking precedence over a mass kidnapping in Syria? Should a bill being passed in parliament be considered more newsworthy than the bombing of an African school?
